The Lewes Swopshop which was set up in December 2010 is an easy and cash-free way to trade your goods and services with local people for the things you need or want. You simply earn credits or ‘swops’ by offering your goods and services and then spend your ‘swops’ on anything being offered by other Swopshop members. It’s a great way to beat the credit crunch, encourage recycling and to promote local sustainability.

Here’s how you do it...
To Sign up: Go to www.theswopshop.org and enter your details. Once you have done this you will be asked to send a cheque for £5 to 2 Station Street, Lewes, BN7 1NG, made payable to Transition Town Lewes. Before your payment is received, you will be able to offer your items and services and be paid in swops. There is a 20 swop 'overdraft' facility which you will receive once your payment is cleared.

We are planning to put on a Swopshop event in early February 2011 which you will find out about on the website and we hope to see you there!
