A unique opportunity to celebrate Lewes’ rich history and experience classical music performed by Lewesians for Lewesians, at Glyndebourne, the world famous opera house.
Glyndebourne and Transition Town Lewes are hosting a fundraising concert at the Glyndebourne Opera House on the afternoon of November 21st 2010, from 3 – 5PM.

November 21st is set to be an extraordinary day where artists of local and global fame will be performing in a celebration of Lewes’ rich history and culture.
First time visitors to Glyndebourne are especially welcome and seats are being offered at an exceptionally low price of £10 (concessions) to £20 to encourage newcomers. Beyond being a fundraising event, the aim of the day is to introduce classical music to Lewes people who would not normally go to such events. It is a unique opportunity for local people to experience the power of classical music at an international opera house – just outside of Lewes.
The concert has been organised by Transition Town Lewes, the local not-for-profit organisation, and will raise funds for their projects that aim to help Lewes make the transition to becoming a low carbon community.
The ‘All Star - All Lewes’ line-up will perform a mix of music through the ages and includes:
Gus Christie, Glyndebourne chairman will compère the evening by weaving the different stories together to bring Lewes’ rich history and traditions to life.
